This is a rather simple idea. Each player joins the game with a dodgeball. That's the only weapon. You throw it, you have to go pick it up or get someone else's ball. This mod can be used on any type of game as it is just a different kind of weapon. The play mechanics would work like this. You have a ball. you can run around and just toss it at someone, and hitting them does some damage. Head shots do extra damage. If you hold the button down, you will stop moving and start to pull the ball back, charging up a power meter. The higher the meter is when you release the button, the harder you throw the ball and the more damage you do. There is no catching or deflecting of balls thrown at you (people could get too good at it and take away from the fun). This would be the basic version of the game. There would also be an option to put in powerups to take the place of normal pickups in the game. These powerups would give you the ability to perform different kinds of attacks, like a flaming dodgeball, exploding dodgeball, homing dodgeball, etc... the most common powerup would be the returning dodgeball, which would cause the ball to bounce back to you after hitting something.
If you are interested in developing this mod for UT2003 then add your name to the list. Once you start development you should indicate that below (and hopefully include a link to a journal page). Before you start development you should also check this section to see if anyone else has started.
C–B: Sounds like a good idea, I'd definatly play it, especially in a wide open gym-like setting (Maybe some stuff to hide behind), one thing I didnt agree with though, were power-ups. Although I suppose that you could Have gameplay modes without them. Having the balls as an instant kill would be very fun. It could be played as classic dodgeball, you'd only have as many balls as half of your whole team (If there were 4 people on your team only 2 balls would spawn). I dunno, however its done, it would be fun. Especially with the Ragdoll physics

Piglet: Hmm i think it would be much better one shot one kill (note: i didnt say instagib because it would be much cooler if you 'ragdolled' when your hit), the other thing you need to be carefull of (at least in a deatmatch setting) is when is a ball safe to pickup, is it when its on the ground, or when it has stopped moving or what???
